Lanterna Pictures is a film production company. Lanterna has strong brand philosophy and they've appealed to Eskimo to develop full brand identity. Brand should bring to audience inspiring stories, great content and emotions. "We want movie watching experience be like a burning sun inside the viewer. We want our movies to shake up their lives and give them an unforgettable experience. No one should be indifferent to our brand. We want the brand to attract viewers. It should tell a story by itself."
Lanterna Pictures back story:
One day the sun went out. Not even the smartest scientists knew what happened. Light was gone! Without light, movies couldn't be made and stories would remain untold. After months of darkness and cold that had never been felt before, Lanterna Pictures decided to fix the problem.
After a long and secret training, astronaut was launched towards the sun, carrying with him a small lantern with a burning fire inside which was connected to an oxygen tank.
Once he was really close to the dead sun, he threw the lantern and the oxygen tank, generating a nuclear fusion that, slowly but surely, reignited the sun. As he escaped, the light came back to the universe,
and movies could be made again.
We've taken this original story as the main inspiration for brand identity and made logo-storyboard. It has 9 variations which show astronaut's journey to the Sun. Step by step he brings back the light to our universe. Background circle symbolizes the sun. Color palette reflects the metaphor of light (yellow) and darkness (black). KYD Buro is a young architect team. Name is formed from the first letters of the founders: Kobets, Yankovskiy, Dubrovskiy. Company's services include architecture, complex projection, design and project support. Teamwork is based on the following values: mathematics, logic, contemporaneity, openness, structuredness, consistency, simplicity and flexibility. They needed identity that would meet all of these requirements to create exact image of the company.
The first step was establishing of relationships between brand values and their graphic expression. It helped to understand how logo should look like. After that there was the skecthes stage.
The decision was found in type transformable sign, consisting of three caps letters. Each letter is constructed by common grid and has the same dimensions. Letters' ends have universal form for variety connection with each other.
The letters was replaced to pictorial projection to reflect idea of working plan and perspective grid. Every letter could have 4 positions by axises. Combing these positions we've got different variation of the sign. Three partners, three dimensions, geometrical forms, teamwork, mathematics, adaptibility — all properties in one simple sign. People love shoes, many shoes. They like buy new models, collect them, care about it. If there is a lot of shoes you need a place where you can keep all of them. The best decision is shoe shelf, which includes many sections for any items. This symbol was used for logo of I LOVE SHOES store.
Like the shelves can be different and the logo has some variations. It has a mathematical proportions and that’s why it’s easy transformable.
White, yellow and brown color palette creates feeling of comfort and easiness with a little touch of luxury. For corporate cards there were made holders in the shape of shoes. They would be used in store cash zone.
White personal business cards (600 g/m2) were embossed over the silk printed text to create imitation of the shoe shelves.

Shave & Blade is a new shaving brand. The target audience is wealthy men who constant flows of life. They need to look carefully and always shaved. S&B is the place where a man can come after work, relax in a comfortable chair, and get a little attention. Barber will take care of the client to be smoothly shaved and looked at 100%. The main feature of Shave & Blade is that shaving is only by straight razors.
In the plans of development the brand will have a franchise around the world, so it has to be international and understandable in any place of the world. The first step in this direction was the sonorous and easy-to-understand name.
SKETCHES AND WORK IN PROGRESS
It was great and interesting project from the start. We studied thoroughly a lot of symbols concerned with shaving and the experience of other brands. Also big attention was given to logo font. It should be simple but gorgeous to be recognizable including short logo version.
As a result of the logo sign search, we stopped at the hedgehog. Unshaven man is closely associated with the one. In addition the hedgehog is a very memorable symbol which stands out from the competition. The important fact that behavior of the hedgehog in wild nature has a totally masculine traits: independence, confidence and stubborn. Male hedgehog can chase about the selected female for hours and ready to stoically endure the pain of girlfriend needles during lovemaking.
Black and white colors with the addition of warm shades of brown gives brand reliability and validity. As the main corporate indicator color was chosen bronze, which is used in the documentation, packaging and interior. Careful work with fonts complements sleek identity. The choice was stopped on the contrast pair of fonts: grotesk P22 Underground CY Pro and classic antique Times New Roman.

Corporate identity for the fast-food chain Piadina Romagnola, which offers visitors an Italian cuisine. The main course is Piadina Romagnola, a relative of pita and all kinds of round cakes. Usually hot cooked cake filled with something delicious: dried ham, braised greens or fresh soft cheese. Today Piadina is actually one of the symbols of the Romagnola, and became the most popular in the Romagnola's fast food.
The basis of the graphics is the traditional Italian cafes typography work, made with crayons. The color scheme includes shades of pastel crayons, and the amount of red and green colors of the Italian flag.Art Direction, Branding, Typography2013
Not everyone office is able to accommodate aquarium, and even more so an aquapark. However, the studio "Eskimo" has come up with a solve for this problem. Available at office desk served as the aquarium frame base, and the sheets of plywood became extemporaneous glass walls. We decided not to limit ourself in choice of fauna and populated it with most diverse wildlife.
Double-sided aquarium construction was designed so that when we look at different sides, we see the same characters, but at different angles (as in real aquarium). To transfer the image to the tree, we used two burning tools from Soviet times.Art Direction, Graphic Design, Illustration2013
Corporate identity for the vintage store Crows' Nest. Inspiration was vintage wrought signs and wheathervanes. To reproduce vintage style we've used natural materials, textured and kraft paper. Teacher - a key part of the future Internet community "Shkollegi". Each teacher has own unique traits and personal qualities, as well as the signature, which teachers use every day as a personal identifier at work. This idea is taken as the basis for the logo, as well as for corporate identity.
Singularity of the logo gives high variability of its writing. It's also the logo (as the sign/symbol), and signature, indicating membership of the "Shkollegi" community. Additional decorative elements are abstract signatures and their typical parts. Personal identity for sommelier Markov Anatoly, a member of the Russian association of sommelier.
In time of work process there has been made the compound sign including monogram MV (Markov Vin - fr.) and inscriptions, telling the information about sommelier. The wooden case-organizer is stylized as a wine box and it is marked suitably (a quantity of bottles, alcohol by volume, bottle volume, number of batch and IPPC mark). Set of the seals for independent manufacturing of business cards completes this kit (with date of manufacturing, like the date of pouring of wine) on textured paper and business cards holder, also executed from a natural tree.Branding, Print Design, Typography2012

Eskimo is the design studio based in Murmansk (Russia). In russian language «ЭСКИМО» (Eskimo) means choc-ice (chocolate iced ice cream). image. Font style continues a sign. The special accent is made on the materials selection: noncoated and a kraft-cardboard, the manual stamp, tinware, a newsprint as the package material.
